Fender Multiducts for Fibre Optic Cable Installation

Fender Multiducts are an advanced HDPE ducting solution designed for the installation of fibre optic cables in underground telecommunications networks, particularly where space is limited. The system consists of multiple HDPE microducts arranged in a fender configuration, positioned along a common planar axis and individually enclosed within a robust HDPE separating sleeve.

Each microduct features a smooth external surface and a specially designed internal axial relief structure that reduces friction during cable insertion, improving installation efficiency and protecting fibre optic cables.

Description

Available in outside diameters of 12 mm and 14 mm, Fender Multiducts are supplied with 3 to 7 microducts per configuration. The compact geometric arrangement allows installation in both horizontal and vertical orientations, making the system particularly suitable for narrow trench applications.

The multiducts are available in neutral colours or, on request, fully coloured with optional co-extruded identification stripes. They are supplied in coils wound on wooden reels, with reel-free supply available upon request.

For enhanced performance, microducts can also be supplied with:

  • Silicone-based internal gliding coating to reduce cable installation friction.
  • Anti-rodent additives for additional protection in vulnerable environments.

Features & Benefits

  • Optimised for Fibre Optic Networks
Designed for underground telecommunications infrastructure where efficient fibre deployment and space optimisation are essential.
  • Ideal for Narrow Trench Installations
The compact fender configuration allows vertical or horizontal placement, making it particularly suitable for installations where trench width is restricted.
  • Space-Efficient Multi-Duct Design
Multiple microducts are integrated into a single solid structure, simplifying installation and supporting future network expansion.
  • Low-Friction Internal Profile
Axial internal ribs reduce cable contact area, lowering installation forces during cable blowing or pulling.
  • Optional Silicone Lubrication Layer
Available with a factory-applied silicone coating to further improve cable installation performance.
  • Optional Rodent Protection
Anti-rodent additives can be incorporated to provide additional protection in areas exposed to biological risks.
  • Permanent Watertight Protection
Provides long-term protection against water ingress, helping to preserve fibre optic network reliability.
  • Excellent Flexibility
Superior bending performance allows installation around obstacles and through complex routes.
  • High UV Resistance
Coloured versions provide improved resistance to ultraviolet exposure during storage and installation.
  • Customisable Design
Available with tailored wall thicknesses, colours and microduct configurations to meet project-specific requirements.
  • Reliable Performance in Unstable Conditions
HDPE construction allows controlled deformation and movement without loss of structural integrity.
  • Electrically Non-Conductive
Inert to stray currents, preventing corrosion-related issues associated with metallic duct systems.
  • High Chemical Resistance
Resistant to aggressive underground environments in accordance with ISO/TR 10358.
  • High Impact Strength
Excellent shock absorption capability protects the duct system during handling and installation.
  • Fully Recyclable
Manufactured from recyclable HDPE, supporting sustainable fibre network development and circular economy objectives.
